Travel Expenses for those travelling by car or public transport
For those colleagues not travelling by coach, travel expenses up to a value
of £12.00 for the return journey will be reimbursed. These expenses will be
reimbursed to staff through April or May 2024 Payroll.
The expense will be paid on production of a completed claim form accompanied
by a valid train/bus ticket/car parking ticket. Claim forms will be available from
your payroll contact for your school. If employees choose to car share,
the expense will be reimbursed to the driver.
Parking in the immediate vicinity of GLive is limited and so colleagues travelling
by car should take responsibility for checking parking options in Guildford, in advance.
Please aim to arrive at the venue at, or as close to, 9.00 am as possible.

use of the free transport from your school to GLive, and also if you have any
special dietary needs or require special access arrangements.

There will be a professional photographer capturing the event on film for us. If you would prefer not to
have your photograph taken please find a member of the WMAT Team and ask for a bright yellow lanyard
so that the photographer can easily identify you.

special dietary needs by 1st March 2024.
We very much hope to see you on March 19th for what promises to be a fantastic day!
Our Sustainable Pledges
Once again, we are making every effort to make the WMAT Staff Conference 2024
as sustainable as possible, we have made a number of pledges:
The GLive venue has won awards for its sustainability
so we are delighted to be working with them once again.
Efficient transport plan, utilising shared coaches and encouraging lift shares.
We have rethought the welcome packs to avoid plastic and waste.
Please bring your own refillable water bottle to avoid plastic waste.
We have asked G-Live to provide paper cups instead of their usual plastic
containers for use in the auditorium and foyer area.
We will use our own staff lanyards rather than disposable badges.
We can’t wait to see everyone on 19th March.
We are delighted to be able to announce the first or our keynote speakers
Stephanie Hare
WMAT Staff Conference 2024 - Flow Working
Following the announcement in last week’s newsletter regarding the 2024 WMAT
Staff Conference we are pleased to confirm some more details about this exciting event.
As well as an inspiring line up, we are responding to feedback from previous conferences
to become more sustainable. We will be sharing our sustainable pledges in future
communications, but in the first instance, we aim to offer a sustainable travel package by
encouraging the use of free coaches, public transport or car sharing.
WMAT Conference Travel Arrangements
A free coach will allocated for each school to take staff to and from GLive in good time for the
start (9.00 am) and end of the conference (14.30 pm).
If colleagues prefer to travel by public transport or car share instead, WMAT will pay travel
expenses (including parking) up to a total of £10.00 for the return journey.
Further details of how to make a claim will follow in future communications.
To facilitate logistics in a timely manner, some additional information will be required from
you around your travel plans, dietary needs and any access arrangements. A request for
this will come via a representative within your school who will be the main point of contact
for all conference related matters....please look out for it!
I am sure that you will be looking forward to this opportunity as much as we are; we will be
providing information regularly as the date approaches. The aim of the conference is for all
of us to come together to celebrate all that we do, be inspired and benefit from amazing
professional development. Therefore, the expectation is that all staff attend from both
Associate and Teaching teams. Such opportunities to come together are rare and so we are
asking Principals / Headteachers to negotiate with part time staff to ensure attendance is
possible and to provide time in lieu where necessary.
We look forward to seeing you on 19th March at GLive!
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT - 5th January 2024
We are delighted to announce that Laura McInerny will once again be joining us at the
2024 WMAT Staff Conference on 19th March. The conference is going to be hosted at GLive,
as it was last year, and we are working hard behind the scenes to secure a line-up of
exceptional keynote speakers and to ensure the whole event is even better than last year!
